Description

Storybook endings, fairy tales coming true
Deep down inside we want to believe they still do
In our secretest heart, it's our favorite part of the story
Let's just admit we all want to make it too

Ever ever after
If we just don't get it our own way
Ever ever after
It may only be a wish away

I've been wanting to color this piece since FOREVER. I commissioned the lineart from :icongodsdragongirl: back in Nov '11. I sorta started coloring it a while back but just decided to tackle it and finish it. But I'm glad I waited, I've gotten better with colors and shadows. (I still have a long way to go to this being the most polished version, but I can always update it). Also I made a drastic decision to stop (unconsciously) making everyone pretty much THE SAME ETHNIC GROUP. Hence our lovely lady has darker skin! (I think my corrupt idea that faeries/the Fae are light skinned is... whitewashing and the idea that "fae" is similar to "fair" aka fair skinned.... WE HAVE A DIVERSITY HERE. FREAKING TINKER BELL EVEN HAS IT.) This makes way more sense in my book given her background and how she looked before the end of the story.

This isn't long after Creature's curse has been lifted. Probably right before their wedding as I envision this gorgeous dress as Creature's (aka Princess Acacia) wedding gown: [link] Flipping. Gorgeous. (I want to draw her in it one day... it'll be murder since I'm a novice at drawing clothing) And so fitting it's called a Junon Evening Dress (made up of 45 petals (that are like peacock's feathers which is the bird of Juno (Hera) who was queen of the gods); Given her blood relation and crap she went through, deserves to look like a god.

As one blogger put it: "I stumbled upon these Dior dresses from his fall/winter 1950 collection. They simply timeless gowns made from silk with blue, green and rustic sequins, the dreams of cherubs, unicorn hair and the tears of seven virgins. Honestly how beautiful are they? Can you imagine walking into a room wearing this? The room would fall silent and a few champagne glasses and monocles would break. When he released his fall/winter collection these were the two most coveted dresses out of a monumental array of pieces. This is what dreams are made of. These are tangible dreams."

So... SPOILERS OF SORT. (I have a lot to revise in CatC so it's not so overdone, but still salutes previous incarnations of the classic Beauty and the Beast story). But I feel that this scene/wedding would take place during late spring/early summer...

A few years pass in the story so Cullen is a bit older and mature, don't worry. Even if it's in another world and time period that is a mix of our past eras, I'm not marrying them off at 13 or 16. HAH. (Both their fates changed at the age of 13, though since Creature/Acacia ages differently/counts time differently (despite being around a bit before Cullen) there's only a few years physical difference. Fae society wise, they're set. Plus the curse messed up her biological aging, though she still aged a bit)

And yeah, Creature is really of the Fae people, aka basically the elves of that world and not like pixie-faeries/fairies (tiny hand sized beings/half human size). The Fae are human sized, have pointed ears, insect like wings and can control magic. And they do marry humans! (See: Creature's parentage.) And that is why she has wings as a monster but they are useless: they are a mockery to what she originally had and was.

I am not even going to try to defend the she's older/he's younger deal. This is a freaking fantasy I can do what I want. I'm not going 90 years difference with Twilight, okay? I know people with 10 year-20 year difference and it's fine with when they go married, yeesh. Call Creature a cougar and she'll rip into you, cuz, heck yeah she was a cat-creature for like 100 years. YO GOTTA DEAL WITH IT.

If I ever do a wedding picture, I am so tempted to called it "Storybook Ending."
